Operational case analyses (OFA) is a criminological tool used to obtain a better understanding of cases of homicide and sexual violence along with other suitable and serious cases.

It is based on objective data and the most comprehensive information on the victim available and has the aim of devising detailed indicators that will assist in the investigation.

Variants are:

  • Comparative case analyses
  • Geographical case analyses

These types of analysis should not be confused with the terms used in crime analysis, which may in some cases be identical.
